Boat Cleaning Accessories

Salt and humidity constantly attack the boat. Regular cleaning prevents oxidation of stainless steel surfaces and dulling of the gelcoat. Brushes that are too stiff are often used, creating micro-scratches where dirt easily builds up. Choose accessories with bristles of appropriate stiffness, favoring materials that do not shed fibers during use. When choosing an accessory, evaluate the handle type and attachment. A quick-release system makes switching between a deck brush and a glass mop easy, but it must hold firmly under load. At Nautiba we analyze the mechanics of these components to make sure the locking systems are corrosion-resistant. Our technical support helps you avoid purchases that will not fit your extension poles. The best cleaning product fails if applied with the wrong accessory. A low-density microfiber cloth does not absorb properly, while an overly abrasive sponge removes protective wax. Before proceeding, verify that the accessory is compatible with the material you are working on.

How to Choose the Right Washing Tool

The choice depends on the frequency of use and the surface. Use soft brushes for glass and gelcoat, reserving stiff ones only for untreated teak or non-slip surfaces. Check whether the handle mount is universal or requires specific adapters. Favor accessories with stainless steel parts to prevent rust from staining the deck. Choose sponges that do not trap debris and sand, reducing the risk of scratching surfaces. Brushes should be replaced when the bristles lose their shape or deform from sun exposure. We advise against using the same accessories on teak and gelcoat, as wood residue can scratch polished surfaces. If you have any doubts about compatibility, contact our technical support to verify the details before ordering.

How often should brushes be replaced?

Brushes should be replaced when the bristles lose their shape or deform due to sun exposure, usually after an intensive season.

Can I use the same accessories on teak and gelcoat?

We advise against this practice, as brushes used on teak pick up residue that can scratch the polished gelcoat surfaces.
